Abstract We quantified the acoustic characteristics of the habitats of two wild populations of pygmy marmosets, in Amazonian Ecuador to evaluate their effects on vocal signal structure. We obtained measures of ambient noise, sound attenuation and reverberation through recordings and broadcasts of exemplars of two short-range vocalizations and one long-range vocalization of the marmosets.
