Entropic Dynamics is a framework in which dynamical laws are derived as an application of entropic methods of inference. No underlying action principle is postulated. Instead, the dynamics is driven by entropy subject to the constraints appropriate to the problem at hand. In this paper we review three examples of entropic dynamics. First we tackle the simpler case of a standard diffusion process which allows us to address the central issue of the nature of time. Then we show that imposing the…
Entropic Dynamics: Mechanics without Mechanism
TLDR
The derivation of quantum theory is reviewed but the fact that Entropic Dynamics is based on inference methods that are of universal applicability suggests that it may be possible to adapt these methods to fields other than physics.
Relational Entropic Dynamics of Particles
The general framework of entropic dynamics is used to formulate a relational quantum dynamics. The main new idea is to use tools of information geometry to develop an entropic measure of the mismatch
The Entropic Dynamics Approach to Quantum Mechanics
TLDR
This paper reviews and extends the entropic Dynamics framework in several directions and shows that Hilbert spaces are not necessary ingredients in this construction and is shown that the ED that preserves the symplectic and metric structures is the linear Schrödinger equation.
Quantum phases in entropic dynamics
TLDR
This work brings Entropic Dynamics one step closer to full equivalence with quantum theory by identifying constraints that lead to wave functions that remain single-valued even for multi-valued phases by recognizing the intimate relation between quantum phases, gauge symmetry, and charge quantization.
Exact Renormalization Groups As a Form of Entropic Dynamics
TLDR
This paper shows that the exact RG equations can be derived using entropic methods, and the RG flow is then described as a form ofEntropic dynamics of field configurations.
J an 2 01 6 Relational Entropic Dynamics of Particles ∗
The general framework of entropic dynamics is used to formulate a relational quantum dynamics. The main new idea is to use tools of information geometry to develop an entropic measure of the mismatch
Entropic Dynamics of Quantum Scalar Fields in Curved Spacetime
In the Entropic Dynamics framework quantum theory is derived as an application of the method of maximum entropy. In previous work the entropic dynamics of relativistic quantum scalar fields was
Entropic dynamics: reconstructing quantum field theory in curved space-time
The Entropic Dynamics reconstruction of quantum mechanics is extended to quantum field theory in curved space-time. The Entropic Dynamics framework, which derives quantum theory as an application of
The entropic dynamics of relativistic quantum fields
The formulation of quantum mechanics within the framework of entropic dynamics is extended to the domain of relativistic quantum fields. The result is a non-dissipative relativistic diffusion in the

Entropic dynamics: From entropy and information geometry to Hamiltonians and quantum mechanics
TLDR
This paper shows how a Hamiltonian dynamics arises as a type of non-dissipative entropic dynamics and shows that the particular form of the "quantum potential" that leads to the Schrodinger equation follows naturally from information geometry.
Entropic dynamics, time and quantum theory
Quantum mechanics is derived as an application of the method of maximum entropy. No appeal is made to any underlying classical action principle whether deterministic or stochastic. Instead, the basic
Momentum and uncertainty relations in the entropic approach to quantum theory
In the Entropic Dynamics (ED) framework quantum theory is derived as an application of the method of maximum entropy. The particles have well-defined positions but since they follow non
Entropic dynamics and the quantum measurement problem
We explore the old quantum measurement problem from the perspective of entropic dynamics. The entropic approach contributes two new ideas. First, the dual modes of quantum evolution-either continuous
Review of stochastic mechanics
Stochastic mechanics is an interpretation of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics in which the trajectories of the configuration, described as a Markov stochastic process, are regarded as physically
Generalized Galilean Transformations and the Measurement Problem in the Entropic Dynamics Approach to Quantum Theory
Quantum mechanics is an extremely successful and accurate physical theory, yet since its inception, it has been afflicted with numerous conceptual difficulties. The primary subject of this thesis is
Could quantum mechanics be an approximation to another theory
We consider the hypothesis that quantum mechanics is an approximation to another, cosmological theory, accurate only for the description of subsystems of the universe. Quantum theory is then to be
Emergent quantum mechanics and emergent symmetries
Quantum mechanics is ‘emergent’ if a statistical treatment of large scale phenomena in a locally deterministic theory requires the use of quantum operators. These quantum operators may allow for
Entropic Dynamics: an Inference Approach to Quantum Theory, Time and Measurement
We review the derivation of quantum theory as an application of entropic methods of inference. The new contribution in this paper is a streamlined derivation of the Schrodinger equation based on a
