We review the conformal field theory approach to entanglement entropy in 1+1 dimensions. We show how to apply these methods to the calculation of the entanglement entropy of a single interval, and the generalization to different situations such as finite size, systems with boundaries and the case of several disjoint intervals. We discuss the behaviour away from the critical point and the spectrum of the reduced density matrix. Quantum quenches, as paradigms of non-equilibrium situations, are… Expand
Entanglement entropy of two disjoint intervals in conformal field theory
We study the entanglement of two disjoint intervals in the conformal field theory of the Luttinger liquid (free compactified boson). Tr ρAn for any integer n is calculated as the four-point functionExpand
Entanglement entropy in conformal field theory: new results for disconnected regions

Dynamics of Entanglement Entropy from Einstein Equation
We study the dynamics of entanglement entropy for weakly excited states in conformal field theories by using anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory (AdS/CFT). This is aimed at a first step to findingExpand
Quantum quenches in 1+1 dimensional conformal field theories

The leading corrections to the Rényi and entanglement entropy in a low temperature expansion have a universal form for any two dimensional conformal field theory that depends only on the size of the mass gap and its degeneracy. Expand
Free-fermion entanglement and spheroidal functions
We consider the entanglement properties of free fermions in one dimension and review an approach which relates the problem to the solution of a certain differential equation. The single-particleExpand

It is found that open boundary conditions induce an alternating term in both the energy density and the entanglement entropy which are approximately proportional, decaying away from the boundary with a power law. Expand
