Enkephalins when applied subarachnoidally induce hind limb postural asymmetry in rats with transected spinal cord. The effect is antagonized by naloxone. Methionine-enkephalin induces predominantly left limb flexions while leucine-enkephalin causes mostly right limb flexions.
