A vibronic-exciton model is applied to investigate the recently proposed mechanism of enhancement of coherent oscillations due to mixing of electronic and nuclear degrees of freedom. We study a dimer system to elucidate the role of resonance coupling, site energies, vibrational frequency and energy disorder in the enhancement of vibronic-exciton and ground-state vibrational coherences, and to identify regimes where this enhancement is significant. For a heterodimer representing two coupled…
Elucidation of near-resonance vibronic coherence lifetimes by nonadiabatic electronic-vibrational state character mixing
TLDR
A character change in the vibronic states is reported—reflective of property mixing between the electronic and vibrational states—induced by an interplay between system coupling parameters within the exciton-vibrational near-resonance regime.
Origin of long-lived oscillations in 2D-spectra of a quantum vibronic model: electronic versus vibrational coherence.
TLDR
These results link recently proposed microscopic, non-equilibrium mechanisms to support long lived coherence at ambient temperatures with actual experimental observations of oscillatory behaviour using 2D photon echo techniques to corroborate the fundamental importance of the interplay of electronic and vibrational degrees of freedom in the dynamics of light harvesting aggregates.
Two-dimensional spectroscopy of a molecular dimer unveils the effects of vibronic coupling on exciton coherences.
TLDR
This work presents measurements and calculations on a solvated molecular homodimer with clearly resolvable oscillations in the corresponding two-dimensional spectra and finds that although calculations predict a prolongation of this coherence due to vibronic coupling, the combination of dynamic disorder and vibrational relaxation leads to a coherence decay on a timescale comparable to the electronic dephasing time.
Theory of Excitonic Delocalization for Robust Vibronic Dynamics in LH2.
TLDR
This work identifies a feasible origin for the long-lasting oscillations observed in fluorescent traces from time-delayed two-pulse single-molecule experiments performed on this photosynthetic complex and uses this approach to discuss the role of this complementarity in other photosynthesis systems.

The presence of quantum coherence in light-harvesting complex II (LHCII) as a mechanism to understand the efficiency of the light-harvesting function in natural photosynthetic systems is still
Vibronic phenomena and exciton-vibrational interference in two-dimensional spectra of molecular aggregates.
TLDR
The results allow us to classify and define the typical spectroscopic features of vibronically coupled molecules and separate the cases, when the long-lived quantum coherences due to vibrational lifetime borrowing should be expected.
Influence of weak vibrational-electronic couplings on 2D electronic spectra and inter-site coherence in weakly coupled photosynthetic complexes.
TLDR
This work calculates the correlation between optical pump interactions and subsequent entanglement between sites, as measured by the concurrence, and compares the calculated 2D spectra with the site-probe response, and shows that an on-resonance vibration with Huang-Rhys factor as small as S = 0.005 and the most strongly coupled off-Resonance vibrations give rise to long-lived, purely vibrational coherences at 77 K.
Full characterization of vibrational coherence in a porphyrin chromophore by two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy.
TLDR
This work presents experimental and calculated two-dimensional electronic spectra for a 5,15-bisalkynyl porphyrin chromophore and analyses both the amplitude and phase distribution of this main vibronic transition as a function of excitation and detection frequencies.

Origin of Long-Lived Coherences in Light-Harvesting Complexes
TLDR
A vibronic exciton model is applied to explain the long-lived oscillatory features in the two-dimensional electronic spectra of the Fenna–Matthews–Olson (FMO) complex and predicts oscillations with dephasing times of 1.3 ps at 77 K, which is in a good agreement with the experimental results.
System-Dependent Signatures of Electronic and Vibrational Coherences in Electronic Two-Dimensional Spectra.
In this work, we examine vibrational coherence in a molecular monomer, where time evolution of a nuclear wavepacket gives rise to oscillating diagonal- and off-diagonal peaks in two-dimensional
Vibronic enhancement of exciton sizes and energy transport in photosynthetic complexes.
TLDR
Investigation of the impact of vibronic couplings on the electronic structures and relaxation mechanisms of two cyanobacterial light-harvesting proteins suggests that the distinct behaviors of these closely related proteins are understood on the same footing only in a basis of joint electronic-nuclear states.
The nature of the low energy band of the Fenna-Matthews-Olson complex: vibronic signatures.
TLDR
A theoretical framework is developed to show that the lowest energy band of the Fenna-Matthews-Olson complex exhibits observable features due to the quantum nature of the vibrational manifolds present in its chromophores, including non-diagonal resonances in the 2D spectra in the waiting time.
High frequency vibrational modulations in two-dimensional electronic spectra and their resemblance to electronic coherence signatures.
TLDR
The results show that these anticorrelated oscillations occur for vibrational wavepackets and not exclusively for electronic coherences as has been assumed previously.

From atomistic modeling to excitation transfer and two-dimensional spectra of the FMO light-harvesting complex.
TLDR
Room-temperature calculations of the excited-state dynamics in FMO are reported on using a combination of molecular dynamics simulations and electronic structure calculations to obtain trajectories for the Hamiltonian of this system which contains time-dependent vertical excitation energies of the individual bacteriochlorophyll molecules and their mutual electronic couplings.
