To enhance transdermal delivery of atenolol, ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) matrix of drug containing penetration enhancer was fabricated. Effect of penetration enhancer on the permeation of atenolol through the excised rat skin was studied. Penetrating enhancers showed the increased flux probably due to the enhancing effect on the skin barrier, the stratum corneum.
