Currently, combining biomaterial scaffolds with living stem cells for tissue regeneration is a main approach for tissue engineering. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are promising candidates for musculoskeletal tissue repair through differentiating into specific tissues, such as bone, muscle, and cartilage.
