Macaroni penguins ( Eudyptes chrysolophus ) and rockhopper penguins ( E. chrysocome ) account for a substantial proportion of the avian biomass at the subantarctic Prince Edward Islands (47°S, 38°E) in summer, when both species are breeding at the islands.
