We measured the analyzing power A and the spin-spin correlation parameter A/sub n//sub n/, in large-P/sub perpendicular//sup 2/ proton-proton elastic scattering, using a polarized-proton target and the polarized-proton beam at the Brookhaven Alternating-Gradient Synchrotron. We also used our polarimeter to measure A at small P/sub perpendicular//sup 2/ at 13 GeV with good precision and found some deviation from the expected 1/P/sub lab/ behavior. At 18.5 GeV/c we found A/sub n//sub n/ = (-2…
Measurement of Spin Effects in pp Elastic Scattering Using the Polarized Beam at the AGS
Using the recently developed 18.5 GeV/c AGS polarized proton beam and a polarized proton target we measured the analyzing power, A, and the spin-spin correlation parameter, Ann, in medium-P2 ⊥
Generalized counting rule and oscillatory scaling
We have studied the energy dependence of the $pp$ elastic scattering data and the pion-photoproduction data at 90$^\circ$ c.m. angle in light of the new generalized counting rule derived for
Geometry of Proton-Proton Spin Effects at 12 to 28 GeV
The impact parameter representation is used to describe p-p elastic scattering spin effects. Central, spin-orbit, and spin-spin eikonals are written interns of form factors which are altributed to
Large Polarization Asymmetries in Nucleon-Nucleon Scattering
When planning antiproton polarization experiments, as discussed at this Meeting, it may be good to remember the large polarization effects discovered in recent years in proton-proton and
Two-pion exchange contribution to proton-proton scattering at medium energies
The contribution of the box and crossed two-pion-exchange diagrams to proton-proton scattering at 90{sub c.m.} degrees is calculated in the laboratory momentum range up to 12 GeV/c. Relativistic form
Probing short-range nucleon-nucleon interactions with an electron-ion collider
We derive the cross-section for exclusive vector meson production in high energy deeply inelastic scattering off a deuteron target that disintegrates into a proton and a neutron carrying large
