The objective of this study was to determine the nutritional requirements of energy and protein and estimate the efficiencies of metabolizable energy utilization for fat and protein deposition, as well as for maintenance (km) and growth (kg). An experiment of comparative slaughter was carried out with thirty-seven 14-month-old (±1 month) Nellore bulls with 259±24.9 kg. Animals were divided as follows: five to reference, four to maintenance level and twenty-eight bulls feeding ad libitum. Bulls… Expand
Research on the purebred Zebu cattle requirements are scarce in tropical areas. Therefore, we evaluated body composition as well as protein and energy requirements for cattle maintenance and growth.Expand
Oscillating and static dietary crude protein supply: II. Energy and protein requirements of young Nellore bulls
There was a linear increase for carcass, CP, and water present in the EBW as the animal grew, and the EE deposition exponentially increased as EBW increased. Expand
Energy and protein requirements for Nellore steers estimated with the deuterium oxide marker
The aim of this study was determine the energy and protein requirements for maintenance and gain of Nellore steers. Thirty six Nellore steers with a average weight and age of 359±13 kg and 20 monthsExpand
Energy and protein requirements of crossbred cattle in feedlot Exigências energéticas e proteicas de bovinos mestiços em confinamento
The objective of this study is to predict the energy and protein requirements of crossbred dairy cattle in feedlot. The study was conducted at the Unidade Acadêmica de Serra Talhada, UniversidadeExpand
Effect of energy and protein supplementation on growth and nutrient requirement estimation in crossbred bull calf
Considering the growth response of crossbred bull calves it is evident that T 1 is better than other dietary groups, with positively correlation of BWG with uptake of nutrients and feed conversion efficiency of different dietary groups. Expand
Does a reduction in dietary crude protein content affect performance, nutrient requirements, nitrogen losses, and methane emissions in finishing Nellore bulls?
Abstract An experiment was conducted to evaluate whether a reduction in dietary crude protein (CP) content affects animal performance, energy and protein requirements, N losses, and enteric methaneExpand
Intake, apparent digestibility, and nutrient requirements for growing Nellore heifers and steers fed two levels of calcium and phosphorus
Under the conditions of this experiment, reducing the dietary concentrations of Ca and P had no significant impact on intake, digestibility, or performance of growing Nellore heifers and steers. Expand
Developing Equations for Converting Digestible Energy to Metabolizable Energy for Korean Hanwoo Beef Cattle
Simple Summary The available energy in feedstuff represents the largest proportion of the total cost for intensive beef production. Therefore, the energy content of feeds must be known before dietExpand

Energy requirement for maintenance and growth of Nellore bulls and steers fed high-forage diets.
Data from three comparative slaughter experiments with individually fed Nellore bulls and steers were utilized to determine their NEm and NEg requirements when fed high-forage diets, indicating that bulls had a greater ME requirement for maintenance than steers. Expand
Energy and protein requirements for growth and maintenance of F1 Nellore x Red Angus bulls, steers, and heifers.
It is concluded that the energy requirement of crossbred Bos indicus x Bos taurus for maintenance might be less than that of purebred Bosnia taurus and that RE(p) is nonlinearly, negatively correlated with RE(c). Expand
A meta-analysis of energy and protein requirements for maintenance and growth of Nellore cattle.
The results do not support the hypothesis that bulls have greater NE(m) requirements than steers and heifers, and no significant differences in the NP(m), NE(g), and net protein for maintenance (NP(m)) and growth ( NP(g) requirements were detected. Expand
A dynamic model of metabolizable energy utilization in growing and mature cattle. III. Model evaluation.
Evaluations of component models of heat production identified in a proposed system of partitioning ME intake and a dynamic systems model that predicts gain in empty BW in cattle resulting from a known intake of ME showed close agreement between predicted and observed final empty BW for steers that were finished on high-energy diets.
