Abstract Conversion of chemical energy from wastewater into electrical energy is receiving more and more attention. By selecting hydrogen-rich or nitrogen-containing pollutants as the fuels and oxidative contaminants as the oxidants, coupled redox fuel cells (CRFCs) were designed.
