Intra-uterine birth causing maternal death ( endotokia matricida ) is relatively common in rhabditid nematodes and typical for entomopathogenic nematodes of the genus Heterorhabditis . A detailed description of this phenomenon is given, including a summary of embryo development, egg-laying, juvenile hatching and development.
