Erectile dysfunction (ED) is highly prevalent in diabetes mellitus. Pathophysiological mechanisms underlying diabetes-associated ED are in large part due to endothelial dysfunction, which functionally refers to the inability of the endothelium to produce vasorelaxing messengers and to maintain vasodilation and vascular homeostasis.
