BACKGROUND & AIMS Patients with carcinoma of the gallbladder (GBC) and obstructive jaundice are usually not amenable to curative resection. Effective palliation by biliary decompression is the goal of treatment. Endoscopic stenting (ES) and percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) can provide biliary decompression.
