BACKGROUND Arachnoid cysts are intra-arachnoidal cerebrospinal fluid collections most frequently seen in the middle cranial fossa. The optimal method of treatment for symptomatic arachnoid cysts remains controversial and includes cyst shunting, open craniotomy and endoscopic fenestration.
