To address the role of endogenous pulmonary nitric oxide (NO) in the modulation of airway tone, we investigated changes in expired NO levels, measured by chemiluminescence, and the effect of inhibition of NO synthase on inflammation-associated bronchial hyperresponsiveness in guinea pigs.
