OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to define the spatiotemporal distribution of intracardiac alternans and its relationship to body surface alternans in humans. BACKGROUND Spatial heterogeneity of alternans exists in the animal heart owing to nonuniform calcium cycling and restitution kinetics.
