The paper deals with position sensor fault detection in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drives. Two fault detection algorithms are described here. The first algorithm is based on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and especially on MultiResolution Analysis (MRA) technique. The second algorithm is based on the Parity Equations Approach (PEA) for residuals generation. The considered position sensor fault is a high level noise disturbance.
