Porcine dermis is one of several tissues available for use as a graft in pubovaginal sling surgery. Short-term success rates using this material approach those of autologous fascia, and no adverse events relating directly to the material itself have yet been described. Porcine dermis reportedly functions as a scaffold for ingrowth of the native tissue, and histological animal studies have confirmed prompt remodeling and neovascularization following implantation.
