Nondialyzable bioemulsifiers were found in the extracellular fluid of 16 different strains ofAcinetobacter calcoaceticus following growth on ethanol-salts medium. The amount of emulsifying activity, its specific activity, and hydrocarbon substrate specificity varied from one strain to another.
