We use techniques from nonparametric function estimation theory to extract the density profiles, and their derivatives, from a set of N-body dark matter halos. We consider halos generated from ΛCDM simulations of gravitational clustering, as well as isolated spherical collapses. The logarithmic density slopes γ ≡ d log ρ/d log r of the ΛCDM halos are found to vary as power laws in radius, reaching values of γ ≈ -1 at the innermost resolved radii, ~10-2rvir. This behavior is significantly…
Empirical models for dark matter halos II: inner profile slopes, dynamical profiles, and ρ/σ<3
We have recently shown that both the Prugniel-Simien model and Sersic's function (hereafter referred to as the Einasto model when applied to internal density profiles) describe simulated dark matter
DARK MATTER HALO PROFILES IN SCALE-FREE COSMOLOGIES
We explore the dependence of the central logarithmic slope of dark matter halo density profiles a on the spectral index n of the linear matter power spectrum P(k) using cosmological N-body
Empirical Models for Dark Matter Halos. III. The Kormendy Relation and the log ρ e -log R e Relation
We have recently shown that the three-parameter density profile model from Prugniel & Simien provides a better fit to simulated galaxy- and cluster-sized dark matter halos than an
Theoretical dark matter halo density profile
We derive the density profile for collisionless dissipationless dark matter haloes in hierarchical cosmologies making use of the secondary infall (SI) model. The novelties are (i) we deal with
Improved Modeling of the Mass Distribution of Disk Galaxies by the Einasto Halo Model
Analysis of the rotation curves (RCs) of spiral galaxies provides an efficient diagnostic for studying the properties of dark matter halos and their relations with baryonic material. Since the cored
Testing phenomenological and theoretical models of dark matter density profiles with galaxy clusters
We use the stacked gravitational lensing mass profile of four high-mass (M& 10 15 M⊙) galaxy clusters around z ≈ 0.3 from Umetsu et al. (2011) to fit density profiles of phenomeno logical (NFW,
Dark Matter Halos: Velocity Anisotropy-Density Slope Relation
Dark matter (DM) halos formed in CDM cosmologies seem to be characterized by a power-law phase-space density profile. The density of the DM halos is often fitted by the NFW profile but a better fit
The dynamical structure of dark matter halos with universal properties
N-body simulations have unveiled several apparently universal properties of dark matter halos, including a cusped density profile, a power-law pseudo-phase-space density ?/?3 r , and a linear ?-?
The Nature of Dark Matter and the Density Profile and Central Behavior of Relaxed Halos
We show that the two basic assumptions of the model recently proposed by Manrique and coworkers for the universal density profile of cold dark matter (CDM) halos, namely, that these objects grow
Are mergers responsible for universal halo properties
N-body simulations of cold dark matter (CDM) have shown that, in this hierarchical structure formation model, dark matter halo properties, such as the density profile, the phase-space density

Spherical galaxy models with power-law logarithmic slope
We present a new family of spherically symmetric models for the luminous components of elliptical and spiral galaxies and their dark matter haloes. Our starting point is a general expression for the
The inner structure of ΛCDM haloes – III. Universality and asymptotic slopes
We investigate the mass profile of cold dark matter (ACDM) haloes using a suite of numerical simulations spanning five decades in halo mass, from dwarf galaxies to rich galaxy clusters. These haloes
Semianalytical dark matter halos and the Jeans equation
Although N-body studies of dark matter halos show that the density profiles, ρ(r), are not simple power laws, the quantity ρ/σ3, where σ(r) is the velocity dispersion, is in fact a featureless power
Dark matter in elliptical galaxies – I. Is the total mass density profile of the NFW form or even steeper?
Elliptical galaxies are modelled as Sersic luminosity dis tributions with density profiles (DPs) for the total mass adopted from the DPs of haloes within dissipationlessCDM N- body simulations.
A dynamical model for the distribution of dark matter and gas in galaxy clusters
Using the results of an extended set of high-resolution non-radiative hydrodynamic simulations of galaxy clusters, we obtain simple analytic formulae for the dark matter and hot gas distribution, in
The Cores of dark matter dominated galaxies: Theory versus observations
We use the rotation curves of a sample of dark matter-dominated dwarf and low surface brightness (LSB) late-type galaxies to study their radial mass distributions. We find that the shapes of the

Resolving the Structure of Cold Dark Matter Halos
We present results of a convergence study in which we compare the density profiles of cold dark matter halos simulated with varying mass and force resolutions. We show that although increasing the
