We investigate a strong coupling expansion of N = 6 superconformal Chern-Simons theory obtained from the semiclassical analysis of low energy, effective degree s of freedom given by the eigenvalues of a certain matrix model. We show how the orbifolded sphere S 7 /Zk of the dual geometry emerges dynamically from the distribution of the eigenvalues. As a test of this ap proach we compute the energy of off-diagonal excitations, finding perfect agreement with the dispersion relation of giant…

Full Lagrangian and Hamiltonian for quantum strings on AdS4 × CP3 in a near plane wave limit

We find the full interacting Lagrangian and Hamiltonian for quantum strings in a near plane wave limit of AdS4 × $$ \mathbb{C} $$P3. The leading curvature corrections give rise to cubic and quartic

Spin Chains in N = 6 Superconformal Chern-Simons-Matter Theory

In this note we study spin chain operators in the N = 6 Chern-Simons-matter theory recently proposed by Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis and Maldacena to be dual to type IIA string theory in AdS4 × CP 3 .

The Bethe ansatz for superconformal Chern-Simons

We study the anomalous dimensions for scalar operators for a three-dimensional Chern-Simons theory recently proposed in arXiv:0806.1218. We show that the mixing matrix at two-loop order is that for

A STRONG COUPLING EXPANSION FOR N = 4 SYM THEORY AND OTHER SCFT's

Recent progress towards understanding a strong coupling expansion for various superconformal field theories in four dimensions is described. First, the case of the maximally supersymmetric Yang Mills

Three-dimensional N=6 superconformal field theories and their membrane dynamics

We analyze several aspects of the recent construction of three-dimensional conformal gauge theories by Aharony et al. in various regimes. We pay special attention to understanding how the M-theory

N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons-matter theories, M2-branes and their gravity duals

We construct three dimensional Chern-Simons-matter theories with gauge groups U(N) × U(N) and SU(N) × SU(N) which have explicit = 6 superconformal symmetry. Using brane constructions we argue that

Three-dimensional N=6 SCFT's and their membrane dynamics

We analyze several aspects of the recent construction of three-dimensional conformal gauge theories by Aharony et al. in various regimes. We pay special attention to understanding how the M-theory

Multi-matrix models and emergent geometry

Encouraged by the AdS/CFT correspondence, we study emergent local geometry in large N multi-matrix models from the perspective of a strong coupling expansion. By considering various solvable

On type IIA Penrose limit and = 6 Chern-Simons theories

Recently, Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis and Maldacena proposed that the = 6 Chern-Simons gauge theories are holographically dual to the M-theory backgrounds with multiple M2-branes on orbifolds C4/Zk.

Large N BPS states and emergent quantum gravity

This paper provides a heuristic derivation of how classical gravitational physics in the AdS/CFT correspondence appears from the strong dynamics of the N = 4 SYM theory in a systematic way. We do

All loop BMN state energies from matrices

We study a quantum corrected SO(6) invariant matrix quantum mechanics obtained from the s-wave modes of the scalars of = 4 SYM on S3. For commuting matrices, this model is believed to describe the
