We show how non-near horizon, non-dilatonicp-brane theories can be obtained from two embedding constraints in a flat higher dimensional space with 2 time directions. In particular this includesthe constructionofD3branesfromaflat12-dimensionalaction,andM2andM5branesfrom 13 dimensions. The worldvolume actions are found in terms ofelds dened in the embedding space, with the constraints enforced by Lagrange multipliers.

Noncommutative Gravity in Six Dimensions

A gauge theory of gravity is defined in 6 dimensional non–commutative space–time. The gauge group is the unitary group U(2,2), which contains the homogeneous Lorentz group, SO(4,2), in 6 dimensions

Lifting the Eisenhart-Duval Lift to a Minimal Brane

The motion of a dynamical system on an $n$-dimensional configuration space may be regarded as the lightlike shadow of null geodsics moving in an $(n+2)$ dimensional spacetime known as its

Wrapping Branes in Space and Time

Branes may be approximated semi-classically by solutions of supergravity theories with event and Cauchy horizons. I suggest that if one wishes to avoid singularities and to capture accurately some of

Higher-dimensional resolution of dilatonic black-hole singularities

We show that the four-dimensional extreme dilaton black hole with dilaton coupling constant can be interpreted as a completely non-singular, non-dilatonic, black p-brane in (4+p) dimensions provided

Embedding of Various Relativistic Riemannian Spaces in Pseudo-Euclidean Spaces

The embedding of various relativistic Riemannian spaces is performed. In each case the original Riemannian line element, the embedding pseudo-Euclidean line element, and the embedding transformation

A Remarkable Property of Plane Waves in General Relativity

The complete general-relativistic plane-wave space-times (gravitational, electromagnetic, or both) are examined in relation to the focusing effect they exert on null cones. The following remarkable

Riemannian Geometry

THE recent physical interpretation of intrinsic differential geometry of spaces has stimulated the study of this subject. Riemann proposed the generalisation, to spaces of any order, of Gauss's
