Abstract The physical and numerical difficulties associated with inadequate boundary resolution in finite differencing applications is alleviated by the embedded curve boundary (ECB) method. The use of this technique in three-dimensional micromagnetic simulations shows more realistic boundary effects on smooth non-rectangular objects without increasing mesh resolution or computational requirements.
