We report on an analysis of the polarization of single pulses of PSR B0329+54 at 328 MHz. We find that the distribution of polarization orientations in the central component diverges strongly from the standard picture of orthogonal polarization modes (OPMs), making a remarkable partial annulus on the Poincare sphere. A second, tightly clustered region of density appears in the opposite hemisphere, at a point antipodal to the centre of the annulus. We argue that this can be understood in terms…

Circular polarization in radio pulsar PSR B1451−68: coherent mode transitions and intrabeam interference
The radio emission of pulsar B1451-68 contains two polarization modes of similar strength, which produce two clear orthogonal polarization angle tracks. When viewed on a Poincare sphere, the emission
Absolute broad-band polarization behaviour of PSR B0329+54: a glimpse of the core emission process
In this paper we report multifrequency single-pulse polarization observations of the PSR B0329+54 normal mode using the Giant Metre-wave Radio Telescope at 325 and 610 MHz and the Effelsberg
Statistics of the individual‐pulse polarization based on propagation effects in the pulsar magnetosphere
Pulsar radio emission is modelled as a sum of two completely polarized non-orthogonal modes with the randomly varying Stokes parameters and intensity ratio. The modes are the result of polarization
A variety of intriguing polarization patterns are created when polarization observations of single pulses from radio pulsars are displayed in a two-dimensional projection of the Poincare sphere. In
The polarization of drifting subpulses
Using new techniques based on the polarimetric fluctuation spectrum, the fluctuation behaviour of the polarization of individual pulses is examined in three pulsars that show drifting subpulses,
The origin of radio pulsar polarisation
Polarisation of radio pulsar profiles involves a number of poorly understood, intriguing phenomena, such as the existence of comparable amounts of orthogonal polarisation modes (OPMs), strong
Polarization Observations of 100 Pulsars at 774 MHz by the Green Bank Telescope
We report on polarimetric observations of 100 pulsars centered on 774 MHz, made using the Green Bank Telescope, presenting their polarization profiles and polarized flux densities and comparing them

Radio pulsar polarization exhibits a number of complex phenomena that are classified into the realm of ‘beyond the rotating vector model’ (RVM). It is shown that these effects can be understood in
Subpulse modulation, moding and nulling of the five-component pulsar B1737+13
Recent Arecibo polarimetric observations of the bright five-component pulsar B1737+13 have facilitated a comprehensive analysis of its pulse-sequence modulation phenomena for the first time. The
The geometry of PSR B0031-07
Context. PSR B0031-07 is well known to exhibit three different modes of drifting sub-pulses (mode A, B and C). It has recently been shown that in a multifrequency observation, consisting of 2700

The Transition between Nonorthogonal Polarization Modes in PSR B2016+28 at 1404 MHz
Polarization observations of the radio emission from PSR B2016+28 at 1404 MHz reveal properties that are consistent with two very different interpretations of the pulsar's viewing geometry. The
Toward an empirical theory of pulsar emission. V. On the circular polarization in pulsar radiation
The circular polarization associated with pulsar emission is examined phenomenologically. Virtually all circular polarization is observed in core components - that is, in core-single profiles and in
On the origin of orthogonal polarization modes in pulsar radio emission
This paper is devoted to studying the conversion of ordinary superluminous waves into extraordinary waves in an ultrarelativistic highly magnetized plasma of pulsars. The conversion appears to take
Theory of subpulse polarization patterns from radio pulsars
We consider the effect of the magnetoactive plasma on the subpulse polarization patterns from radio pulsars. The radiation is presumed to originate from a very relativistic plasma streaming out along
Understanding the Radio Emission Geometry of PSR B0329+54
We have analyzed high-quality single-pulse data of PSR B0329+54 at 325 and 606 MHz to study the structure of the emission beam. Using the "window-threshold technique," which is suitable for detecting
Statistical summaries of polarized pulsar radiation.
This paper considers the polarization behavior of 18 pulsars as observed at 430 MHz in the Arecibo Polarization Survey. The results following from a statistical analysis are presented as probability
Circular polarization in pulsar integrated profiles
We present a systematic study of the circular polarization in pulsar integrated profiles, based on published polarization data. For core components, we find no significant correlation between the
Statistical Modeling of the Circular Polarization in Pulsar Radio Emission and Detection Statistics of Radio Polarimetry
Despite the diverse and seemingly complicated structure of the polarization of individual pulses from radio pulsars, many features of the emission are remarkably similar from pulsar to pulsar. These
The Mode-separated Pulse Profiles of Pulsar Radio Emission
Two modes of orthogonal polarization are generally observed in the radio emission from pulsars. Essentially all attempts to calculate the average profiles of the individual modes have assumed that
|V|: new insight into the circular polarization of radio pulsars
We present a study of single pulses from nine bright northern pulsars to investigate the behaviour of circular polarization, V. The observations were conducted with the Effelsberg 100-m radio
