Ethanol-induced hepatic steatosis may induce the progression of alcoholic liver disease. The involvement of autophagic clearance of damaged mitochondria (mitophagy) and lipid droplets (LDs) (lipophagy) in chronic ethanol-induced hepatic steatosis is not clearly understood.
