During internal discharge (electrical breakdown by field emission transmission) thin symmetric capacitors accelerate slightly towards the anode; an anomaly that does not appear obvious using standard physics. Various thicknesses of discharging capacitors have been used to demonstrate and better characterize this phenomenon. It was observed that it is possible to reverse the force by adding conductive materials in the immediate proximity of the cathode when physically separated from the anode…
