During internal discharge (electrical breakdown by field emission transmission) thin symmetric capacitors accelerate slightly towards the anode; an anomaly that does not appear obvious using standard physics. Various thicknesses of discharging capacitors have been used to demonstrate and better characterize this phenomenon.
