Electronic and magnetic properties of ribbon-shaped nanographite systems with zigzag and armchair edges in a magnetic field are investigated by using a tight-binding model. One of the most remarkable features of these systems is the appearance of edge states, strongly localized near zigzag edges. The edge state in a magnetic field, generating a rational fraction of the magnetic flux ( f5 p/q) in each hexagonal plaquette of the graphite plane, behaves like a zero-field edge state with q internal…
Magnetic and Transport Properties of Nanographites
Abstract Magnetic and transport properties of nanographites are investigated in graphite ribbons with zigzag and armchair edges. One of the most remarkable features of these systems is the appearance
12 – Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Nanographites
This chapter discusses electronic and magnetic properties of nanographites. Nanometer-sized systems with open boundaries called nanographites display unusual features where the presence of edges of
Topological and transport properties of graphene-based nanojunctions subjected to a magnetic field.
TLDR
It is shown that, under magnetic flux, one can effectively control the energy gap and the conductance around the Fermi energy, and the transitions between metallic, semimetallic, and semiconducting phases are possible by the magnetic flux in the S-shaped junctions.
Electronic structures of graphene edges and nanographene
The electronic structure of nanographene having open edges around its circumference crucially depends on its edge shape. The circumference of an arbitrary shaped nanographene sheet is described in
Magnetoelectronic properties of nanographite ribbons
Abstract Magnetoelectronic structures of the AA- and AB-stacked nanographite ribbons, which strongly depend on magnitude and direction of magnetic field, ribbon edges, and interribbon interactions,
Electronic and optical properties of a nanographite ribbon in an electric field
Through the tight-binding model, the effect of electric field on electronic and optical properties of a zigzag (an armchair) H-terminated nanographite ribbon is studied. The effective electric field
Magnetoconductance of graphene nanoribbons
The electronic and transport properties of monolayer and AB-stacked bilayer zigzag graphene nanoribbons subject to the influences of a magnetic field are investigated theoretically. We demonstrate
17 – Unconventional Magnetic Properties of Nanographite
This chapter presents unconventional electronic and magnetic features of nanographite and their possible applications to nanodevices. Nanographene is prepared by heat-treating nanodiamond particles.
Magnetic properties of nano-graphites at low temperature
Abstract Both orbital diamagnetic and Pauli paramagnetic contributions to the magnetic response in ribbon-shaped nanographite systems with zigzag and armchair edges are discussed. These systems
Curvature Effects on Magnetoelectronic Properties of Nanographene Ribbons
Magnetoelectronic properties of curved nanographene ribbons are investigated through the Peierls tight-binding model. Those properties are strongly affected by an effectively non-uniform magnetic
