Recent ultrastructural observations on the connective tissue sheaths of nerves, Schwann cell-axonal relations, and nerve terminals and receptors are reviewed. It seems likely that endoneurial collagen is formed by perineurial cells during development and postnatally. New observations on "collagen pockets" are presented.
