While this discussion is limited to two specific systems, the design considerations presented can be applied effectively in the selection of equipment for any type of control system. The use of solid-state controls for the Colgate-Palmolive interface system and electromechanical controls for the Kitchens of Sara Lee interface system was clearly indicated by differing design requirements.
