Cyclic voltammetric and electrogenerated chemiluminescent data were used to study the binding of tris(2,2'-bipyridine)-osmium(II), Os(bpy)3(2+), an electrostatic binder, to calf thymus DNA. The oxidized form of the osmium complex, Os(bpy)3(3+), has a stronger association to DNA than the reduced form, Os(bpy)3(2+), as indicated by the negative shift of E0' of the CV waves (K3+/K2+ = 3.35). The calculated binding constant, K2+, and binding site size, s, for the Os(byp)3(2+)-DNA system depended…

Voltammetric measurements of the interaction of metal complexes with nucleic acids.
TLDR
Steady-state voltammetric experiments at microelectrodes are shown to have a number of advantages over cyclic voltammetry and differential pulsevoltammetry at mm-sized electrodes for determination of binding constants, including the steady-state diffusion limited current, which improves the discrimination between DNA-bound and freely diffusing metal complex.
Interactions of polypyridyl cobalt complexes with DNA studied by rotating electrode methods
The interaction of transition metal complexes Co(phen)2TATP3ë+, Co(phen)33ë+ and Co(bpy)33ë+ (where TATP = 1,4,8,9-tetra-aza-trisphenylene, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, and bpy=2,2′-bipyridine) with
Spectrophotometric Study on the Binding of Two Water Soluble Schiff Base Complexes of Mn (III) with ct-DNA
TLDR
Experimental results show that the dominant interactions are electrostatic while binding mode is surface binding then followed by hydrophobic interactions in grooves in high concentration of complexes.
Electrochemical and spectroscopic investigations of protonated ferrocene-DNA intercalation.
TLDR
The peak potentials shift in CV, hyperchromism in UV absorption titration, an increase in the viscosity of DNA and the results of the effect of ionic strength on the binding constant strongly support the intercalation of PF into the DNA double helix.
DNA-Modified Electrodes. Part 5. Electrochemical Behavior of Co2+ at DNA-Modified Gold Electrodes in the Presence of 2,2'-Bipyridyl.
The electrochemical behavior of Co2+, whose response is abnormally enhanced at DNA-modified gold electrodes in the presence of 2,2′-bipyridyl, was found. After it forms an adduct with Co2+, excess
Spectroscopic and voltammetric studies of the cobalt (II) complex of Morin bound to calf thymus DNA
Absorption and emission spectra, viscometric and electrochemical studies have been carried out on the interaction of Morin (2′, 3, 4′, 5, 7-pentahydroxyflavone) and its Co complex, CoL2·3H2O[L =

A study of the interactions of some polypyridylruthenium (II) complexes with DNA using fluorescence spectroscopy, topoisomerisation and thermal denaturation.
TLDR
I binds intercalatively to DNA in low ionic strength solutions and topoisomerisation shows that it unwinds DNA by 22 degrees +/- 1 per residue and that it thermally stabilizes poly[d(A-T)] in a manner closely resembling ethidium.

Enantioselective interactions of inversion‐labile trigonal iron(II) complexes upon binding to DNA
TLDR
Information about the orientation of the complexes on DNA was obtained: it is consistent with a fit of the Δ‐enantiomer in the major groove of the right‐handed DNA helix, and the mechanisms of interaction are discussed against equilibrium, spectroscopic, and kinetic data.
Photophysics of ruthenium complexes bound to double helical DNA
TLDR
Platinum complexes have been shown by X-ray diffraction methods to be valuable electron-dense probes of the intercalative process and generally of nucleic acid structure and the photophysical properties of bound intercalators have provided useful information concerning nucleic acids structure.
