Using the method of a rotating disk (graphite) electrode with a ring, UV spectroscopy, and prolonged electrolysis, it has been shown that the first stage of the electrochemical oxidation of substituted 3,4-dihydro-2-pyridones in anhydrous acetonitrile corresponds to a two-electron process taking place by an ECE mechanism and leads to the formation of the corresponding substituted 2-pyridones.
