Summary In acidic media the precursors of impregnated catalysts (5%Fe-50%Mn) show electrochemical Fe signal larger than Mn signal. This anomaly is assigned to the existence of an interaction between Fe and Mn. In alkaline media coprecipitates obtained at pH 8 also show such amplified Fe signal that is due to the existence of an amorphous Fe(OH) 3− like structure.
