}BACKGROUND
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has an increased risk of not only end-stage renal disease (ESRD), but majority of moderate CKD patients do die from cardiovascular disease (CVD) before reaching ESRD. The prognosis of these patients is very poor in most developing countries because of late presentation, inadequate diagnostic facilities, and inability to pay for treatment. Knowledge about CVD in CKD is crucial because of unpredictable progressive nature of the disease and increased risk of…

- MedicineJournal of basic and clinical physiology and pharmacology

Given the fact that long-term CKD influences the pathogenesis cardiovascular diseases and substantial cardiovascular mortality, there is a need to screen Indonesian CKD patients who are at risks of getting earlier complications.

Investigation of HTN and anaemia in male predialytic CKD patients will arouse suspicion which will help in early detection of cardiac outcome by ECG abnormality which would help in taking treatment strategy in resource limited country.
ECG Abnormalities In Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease.
- MedicineJournal of Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad : JAMC

All hospitalized CKD patients should undergo ECG to screen for cardiovascular disease, and left ventricular hypertrophy, Q waves, ST segment elevation or depression and tachycardia were the most common abnormalities.
Electrocardiographic Patterns Amongst End Stage Renal Disease Patients in a Teaching Hospital in South-South Nigeria

Left ventricular hypertrophy is a common electrocardiographic abnormality amongst chronic kidney disease patients so efforts to identify these patients and prevent their progression to end stage disease is crucial.

CVRF are highly prevalent in non-dialyzed CKD populations in this setting and may contribute to the burden of CVD implying strict control of these factors.
Pattern and correlates of cardiac lesions in a group of sub-Saharan African patients on maintenance hemodialysis
- Medicine, BiologyThe Pan African medical journal

Cardiac lesions and cardiovascular risk factors are frequent in these patients receiving sub-optimal dose maintenance hemodialysis despite their younger age, suggesting an increased susceptibility to cardiovascular complications.

In Africa, CKD is a public health problem, mainly attributed to high-risk conditions as hypertension and diabetes, and the poor data quality restricts the validity of the findings and draws the attention to the importance of designing future robust studies.

It is concluded that control of hypertension is poor in participants with CKD and that lack of control is primarily attributable to systolic hypertension, and future guidelines and antihypertensive therapies for patients with CKd should target isolated systolics.

CKD is a risk factor for the composite outcome of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease in the general population and a more pronounced risk factor in blacks than in whites and it is hypothesized that this effect may be due to more frequent or more severe subclinical vascular disease secondary to hypertension or diabetes in black individuals.
