Recent $\gamma$-ray observations suggest that the particle acceleration occurs at the outer region of the pulsar magnetosphere. The magnetic field lines in the outer acceleration region (OAR) are connected to the neutron star surface (NSS). If copious electron--positron pairs are produced near the NSS, such pairs flow into the OAR and screen the electric field there. To activate the OAR, the electromagnetic cascade due to the electric field near the NSS should be suppressed. However, since a… Expand
Efficiency of Synchrotron Radiation from Rotation-Powered Pulsars
Synchrotron radiation is widely considered as the origin of the pulsed non-thermal emissions from rotation-powered pulsars in optical and X-ray bands. In this paper, we study the synchrotronExpand
Wide-Band Spectra of Giant Radio Pulses from the Crab Pulsar
We present the results of the simultaneous observation of the giant radio pulses (GRPs) from the Crab pulsar at 0.3, 1.6, 2.2, 6.7, and 8.4 GHz with four telescopes in Japan. We obtain 3194 and 272Expand
The SCUBA-2 Cosmology Legacy Survey: The EGS deep field – II. Morphological transformation and multiwavelength properties of faint submillimetre galaxies
We present a multiwavelength analysis of galaxies selected at 450 and 850 μm from the deepest SCUBA-2 observations in the Extended Groth Strip (EGS) field, which have an average depth of σ450 = 1.9Expand
Comprehensive Analysis of Magnetospheric Gaps around Kerr Black Holes Using 1D GRPIC Simulations
Spark gaps are likely the source of plasma in active black hole (BH) magnetospheres. In this paper, we present results of 1D general-relativistic particle-in-cell simulations of a starved BHExpand
Relativistic fireball reprise: radio suppression at the onset of short magnetar bursts
There is growing evidence that a clear distinction between magnetars and radio pulsars may not exist, implying the population of neutron stars that exhibit both radio pulsations and burstingExpand

Full Simulation of the Open Field Lines Above a Pulsar's Polar Cap. I. Acceleration
We have programmed a full simulation of the open field lines above the polar cap of a magnetized pulsar using a time-dependent, particle-in-cell (PIC) numerical code. We consider the case of freeExpand
POLAR-CAP ACCELERATOR AND RADIO EMISSION FROM PULSARS
Electric currents j flow along the open magnetic field lines from the polar caps of neutron stars. Activity of a polar cap depends on the ratio α = j/cρGJ, where ρGJ is the corotation charge density.Expand
MODELING OF GAMMA-RAY PULSAR LIGHT CURVES USING THE FORCE-FREE MAGNETIC FIELD
Gamma-ray emission from pulsars has long been modeled using a vacuum dipole eld. This approximation ignores changes in the eld structure caused by the magnetospheric plasma and strong plasmaExpand
