Fibroepithelial polyps are common cutaneous lesions with an unknown etiology. We attempted to demonstrate that fibroepithelial polyps develop secondary to a focal loss of elastic tissue. Forty-five fibroepithelial polyps were examined. All were stained with Verhoeff-van Gieson stain for elastic tissue and examined.
