Paragangliomas are rare tumors derived from the extra adrenal chromafin system. Traditionally these tumors have been named as glomus, chemodectomas and glomerulocytomas. They occur predominantly in females and in the carotid body and in people that fives in high altitude places. A retrospective review was performed in order to analyze the forms of diagnosis and management of these tumors at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia at Mexico City.
