The genus Veronica, according to the revised coIlections in this work, has 7 taxa (5 species and 2 varieties) in Colombia. AIl (minus two) are exotic species naturalized in this territory, and are commonly asociated with cultures and disturbed places. A key for the species and varieties recognized in Colombia is presented and two new records for this country and Northern Southamerica are documented.
Origin of Veroniceae (Plantaginaceae, formerly Scrophulariaceae) on New Guinea
TLDR
DNA sequence data have been analyzed using parsimony and maximum likelihood to test the hypothesis of three different introductions to New Guinea and their origin, and results largely confirm previous suggestions based on morphology, although lack of sufficient sequence variability in the Hebe complex does not allow definite conclusions.
