The Lagrangian for a non-abelian gauge theory with an $SU(N_{\! c})$ symmetry and a linear covariant gauge fixing is constructed in eight dimensions. The renormalization group functions are computed at one loop with the special cases of $N_{\! c}$ $=$ $2$ and $3$ treated separately. By computing the critical exponents derived from these in the large $N_{\! f}$ expansion at the Wilson-Fisher fixed point it is shown that the Lagrangian is in the same universality class as the two dimensional non…

Effective action for gauge bosons

By treating the vacuum as a medium, H. Euler and W. Heisenberg estimated the non-linear interactions between photons well before the advent of Quantum Electrodynamics. In a modern language, their

Two-loop anomalous dimensions of QCD operators up to dimension-sixteen and Higgs EFT amplitudes

We consider two-loop renormalization of high-dimensional Lorentz scalar operators in the gluonic sector of QCD. These operators appear also in the Higgs effective theory obtained by integrating out

Gluonic evanescent operators: classification and one-loop renormalization

Abstract Evanescent operators are a special class of operators that vanish classically in four-dimensional spacetime, while in general dimensions they are non-zero and are expected to have

Exploring higher dimensional quantum field theories through fixed points

Renormalization was popularised in the 1940s following the appearance of non- sensical infinities in the calculation of the self-energy of the electron. Notably this led to Quantum Electrodynamics

Gluonic evanescent operators: two-loop anomalous dimensions

An efficient strategy to compute the two-loop divergences of form factors of high-dimensional and high-length operators by com-bining the d -dimensional unitarity method and the improved tensor reduction techniques is developed.

Operator mixing in massless QCD-like theories and Poincarè–Dulac theorem

Recently, a differential-geometric approach to operator mixing in massless QCD-like theories – that involves canonical forms, obtained by means of gauge transformations, based on the Poincarè–Dulac

Algebraic Interplay between Renormalization and Monodromy

We investigate combinatorial and algebraic aspects of the interplay between renormalization and monodromies for Feynman amplitudes. We clarify how extraction of subgraphs from a Feynman graph

Some aspects of CP violation and gauge interactions in the standard model and beyond

In this PhD thesis, we first look at some manifestations of CP violation, such as electric dipole moments (EDMs) of elementary particles, both in the weak sector in the presence of neutrino masses
