An efficient approach for transmission of scalable video over erroneous channel is proposed. The proposed approach jointly optimises the bit allocation between a wavelet-based scalable video coding framework and a forward error correction codes. The forward error correction is based on the two-dimensional error protection scheme which applies unequal error protection in temporal-spatial layers as well as in quality layers.
