Hemicelluloses were isolated from hybrid poplar with the single-step alkaline extraction. Neutralization and subsequent ethanol precipitation were used to recover them. Their structures were investigated using sugar analysis, Fourier transform infrared and (13)C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
