Efficient cryo-cooled 2.7-&#x00B5;m Er<sup>3+</sup>-doped Y<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> ceramic laser diode-pumped at 974 nm

Abstract

Reported here is the first cryogenically-cooled diode-pumped performance of Er<sup>3+</sup>:Y<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> laser based on 4 I<inf>11/2</inf> &#x21D2; 4 I<inf>13/2</inf> transitions. Pump-limited CW power of over 1.6 W at &#x223C;2.7 &#x00B5;m was achieved with the 27.5% slope efficiency.
