We report on the development of efficient continuous wave fiber laser utilizing an Er<sup>3+</sup>-doped nano-engineered yttria stabilized zirconia–alumino silicate fiber. Such a fiber presents better capability of cluster elimination than commercial Er<sup>3+</sup>-doped silica fibers.
