We show by detailed model computation how much the Pre-Main Sequence (PMS) lithium depletion depends on the treatment of over-adiabaticity, by taking advantage of the results of new models by Montalban et al., which apply different treatments of convection to non-grey PMS models. In order to reproduce both the PMS lithium depletion (inferred from the lithium depletion patterns in young open clusters), and the location of PMS tracks in the HR diagram (inferred from the study of young PMS stars… Expand

New light on the old problem of lithium pre-MS depletion: models with 2D RHD convection
ABSTRACT The T eff location of Pre-Main Sequence (PMS) evolutionary tracks depends on thetreatment ofover-adiabaticity.We present here the PMS evolutionarytrackscomputedby using the mixing lengthExpand
Impact of rotation and disc lifetime on pre-main sequence lithium depletion of solar-type stars
Aims. We study the influence of rotation and disc lifetime on lithiu m depletion of pre-main sequence (PMS) solar-type stars. Methods. The impact of rotational mixing and of the hydrostatic effectsExpand
Clarifying Problems in the Description of Pre Main Sequence Evolution
We comment on a few points about modeling of pre main sequence (PMS) evolution, and try to derive some constraints on the stellar evolution during this phase, in spite of the parametric descriptionExpand
Non-gray rotating stellar models and the evolutionary history of the Orion Nebular Cluster
Context. Rotational evolution in the pre-main sequence is described with new sets of pre-MS evolutionary tracks including rotation, non-gray boundary conditions (BCs) and either low (LCE) or highExpand
Lithium Isotopes in Population II Dwarfs
We address the evolution of lithium in Population II dwarf stars under the joint effects of microscopic diffusion and tachocline mixing. This process relies on analytical developments and is alsoExpand
Although the means of the ages of stars in young groups determined from Li depletion often agree with mean ages determined from Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) diagram isochrones, there are oftenExpand
Cumulative theoretical uncertainties in lithium depletion boundary age
We performed a detailed analysis of the main theoretical uncertainties affecting the age at the lithium depletion boundary (LDB). To do that we computed almost 12 000 pre-main- sequence models withExpand
Lithium in M 67: From the main sequence to the red giant branch
Lithium abundances in open clusters are a very effective probe of mixing processes, and their study can help to understand the large depletion of lithium in the Sun. Due to its age and metallicity,Expand
Theoretical Predictions of Surface Light Element Abundances in Protostellar and Pre-Main Sequence Phase
Theoretical prediction of surface stellar abundances of light elements–lithium, beryllium, and boron–represents one of the most interesting open problems in astrophysics. As well known, severalExpand
Pre-Main-Sequence Lithium Depletion
In this review I briefly discuss the theory of pre-main-sequence (PMS) Li depletion in low-mass (0.075<M<1.2 Msun) stars and highlight those uncertain parameters which lead to substantial differencesExpand

Lithium Depletion in Pre-Main-Sequence Solar-like Stars
We examine the internal structure of solar-like stars in detail between 0.8 and 1.4 M☉ and during pre-main-sequence phase. Recent opacity computations of OPAL along with a new hydrodynamical mixingExpand
First Results on Pre-Main-Sequence Evolution, Including a Magnetic Field
The recent preliminary determination of masses and physical parameters for the ROSAT-discovered, weak T Tauri star RX J0529.4+0041, a double-lined eclipsing binary, is a very important test for theExpand
Convection in the atmospheres and envelopes of turnoff and giant branch stars of globular clusters
We explore the dependence of ${T}_{\rm eff}$'s and colors of stellar models on the treatment of over-adiabatic convection, both in the atmosphere and in the interior. We compute main sequence,Expand
The evolution of the lithium abundances of solar-type stars. III - The Pleiades
New measurements of lithium in more than 100 Pleiades F, G, and K dwarfs are reported. Abundances are determined from spectrum synthesis fits to the data as well as from use of new covers of growthExpand
The Böhm-Vitense Gap: The Role of Turbulent Convection
"Bohm-Vitense gaps," discontinuities in the color distribution of A-F type stars along the main sequence, have traditionally been attributed to the abrupt onset of strong convection (8000 K ≥ Teff ≥Expand
New grids of ATLAS9 atmospheres I: Influence of convection treatments on model structure and on observable quantities
Received ; accepted Abstract. We present several new sets of grids of model stellar atmospheres computed with modified versions of the ATLAS9 code. Each individual set consists of several grids ofExpand
Stellar Turbulent Convection: A Self-consistent Model
We present a self-consistent model for stellar turbulent convection that is similar in spirit to the CM model (Canuto & Mazzitelli 1991) since it accounts for the full spectrum of the turbulentExpand
Early pre--main-sequence evolution with deuterium burning
Theoretical evolutionary histories of pre--main-sequence Population I stars of mass 0.2 M/sub sun/< or =M< or =5 M/sub sun/ have been computed using the hypothesis of quasi-static equilibriumExpand
Dynamical Masses of T Tauri Stars and Calibration of Pre-Main-Sequence Evolution
We have used the high sensitivity and resolution of the IRAM interferometer to produce subarcsecond 12CO J = 2-1 images of nine protoplanetary disks surrounding T Tauri stars in the Taurus-AurigaExpand
Abundances of the elements: Meteoritic and solar
New abundance tables have been compiled for Cl chondrites and the solar photosphere and corona, based on a critical review of the literature to mid-1988. The meteorite data are generally accurate toExpand
