Of all the cases investigated for suspected lung cancer between June 1999 and June 2003, 196 cases were selected where flexible bronchoscopic samples of broncho-alveolar lavage (BAL) and bronchial brush (BB) cytology as well as bronchial biopsy were taken and processed as per standard procedures of cytology and histology.
