Objective: Low-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) is generally treated with single agent chemotherapy and methotrexate (MTX) as a first-line therapy. Vitamin A helps to increase trophoblast cell regression, as well as to decrease β-hCG levels. Vitamin A also increases the effectiveness of MTX by inducing more malignant cell death than MTX alone. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to analyze the changes in β-hCG levels in low-risk GTN patients following vitamin A…

The current situation of health services for hydatidiform mole in Cambodia
The results suggest that provincial hospitals are important to detect suspected invasive mole and refer to national hospitals for diagnosis and treatment and further studies on the management of GTD are needed.

Effect of Methotrexate Combination with Vitamin A on Serum Levels of beta hCG in Low Risk of Gestational Trophoblastic Tumors Treatment
Combination of vitamin A 100,000 IU and methotrexate can accelerate beta hCG serum declination in treatment of patients with low risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia.
Effect of Combination Therapy of Methotrexate with Vitamin A in Patients with Low Risk GTN (Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia)
Combination therapy of Methotrexate and Vitamin A in low risk GTN is associated with shorter duration of chemotherapy and response to therapy was assessed by evaluation of HCG serum level.
Prevention of post-mole malignant trophoblastic disease with vitamin A.
The rate of malignant trophoblastic disease (MTD) was reduced in the group receiving vitamin A therapy, and no difference was found in the changes of SGOT and SGPT levels of the therapy group compared with the control group.
The Evolution of Methotrexate as a Treatment for Ectopic Pregnancy and Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia: A Review
The development of modern treatment protocols that use methotrexate to medically treat two pregnancy-related conditions—gestational trophoblastic neoplasia and ectopic pregnancy are reviewed.

Study on retinol binding protein (RBP) receptor in hydatidiform mole trophoblastic cells
This study aimed to demonstrate the presence of retinol binding protein (RBP) receptors in the hydatidiform mole trophoblastic cells, that would provide explanation on the relationship of vitamin A and hydatodiform mole.
Serum vitamin A (retinol) and cancer incidence in Evans County, Georgia.
As compared to controls, persons that eventually developed cancer had significantly lower mean serum retinol levels at least 12 months before the cancer diagnosis, and the association was in the same direction for all 4 race-sex groups, although stronger overall for males than females, and was consistent for the various cancer sites and cell types.
