Effets stimulants et dépressurs centraux de dérivés de la pyrimidine

Abstract

Central stimulant and depressing pyrimidine derivatives, synthesized byGoldberg, have been studied: amino-2-dimethylamino-4-benzyl-5-pyrimidine and N-N'-tetramethyldiamino-2-4-benzyl-5-pyrimidine induce restlessness, tremor and, at higher dosages, convulsions, in mice and rabbits; they antagonize the barbiturate narcosis in these animals and restore partially the respiratory rhythm previously depressed by morphine. Diperidino-2-4-benzyl-5-pyrimidine, on the contrary, is a potent but toxic narcotic in the rabbit. Attention is drawn to the possible significance of these facts for the metabolic inhibition theory of narcosis ofQuastel and co-workers.
