Out of 326 fibres in the horizontal semicircular canal branch of the goldfish vestibular nerve, 7 fibres could be identified as efferents. They showed irregular spontaneous activity and responded to rotatory stimuli with double frequency. Additionally in the central stump of the dissected nerve, efferent fibres were found, the spontaneous and stimulus modulated activity of which could not be differentiated from afferents.
