Astragalus membranaceus is a famous Chinese medicinal herb. Polysaccharides are the most important functional constituent in Astragalus membranaceus. In the present study, the effects of Astragalus membranaceus polysaccharides (APS) on exercise endurance capacity were evaluated in mice using swimming exercise. The antioxidant properties of APS were also investigated through the 1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed that APS supplementation could prolong swimming times…

Figures and Tables from this paper

Effect of polysaccharides from the roots of Morinda officinalis How on physical fatigue

The experiment data showed that MOP could increase the swimming time to exhaustion of the mice, as well as increase the liver and muscle glycogen contents, and decrease the BLA, SUN and serum CK contents.

Anti-fatigue effects of polysaccharides extracted from Rhodiolae Radix.

It is indicated that PRR had significant anti-fatigue effects and can extend the exhaustive swimming time of the mice, as well as increase the tissue glycogen contents, and decrease the BLA and BUN contents.

Antioxidant activity and total phenolic and flavonoid content of Astragalus squarrosus Bunge.

The antioxidant capacity of the flowering aerial parts of Astragalus squarrosus was determined by 1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging and ferric thiocyanate methods. The phenolic

In vitro antioxidant activity of polysaccharide from Gardenia jasminoides Ellis

The in vitro free radicals scavenging tests exhibited that GP has significant scavenging abilities especially for ABTS, DPPH, and hydroxyl radicals, which suggests that the polysaccharide GP is a novel antioxidant.

In vitro free radicals scavenging activities of polysaccharide from Polygonum Multiflorum Thunb

The crude polysaccharide (PMTP) was isolated from Polygonum Multiflorum Thunb through hot water extraction followed by ethanol precipitation. Through antioxidant assay in vitro, the results exhibited

Nutritive Values and Antioxidant Activity of Citrullus lanatus Fruit Extract

Citrullus lanatus (Watermelon) is a fruit cultivated and consumed in Africa for its essential nutrients which are very beneficial to the human body. The present study was designed to evaluate the

EFFECTS OF ASTRAGALUS POLYSACCHARIDES ON ANTI- OXIDANT STATUS OF CHICKS

The result of the experiment indicated the activity of SOD, GSH-Px, CAT, GR in serum was significantly higher while MDA was significantly lower as compared to control chicks, indicating APS can promote the antioxidant status chicks.

Studies on the chemical components of Astragalus membranaceus and the method of determinating effectual constituent—astragaloside IV

There are many chemical constituents in Astragalus membranaceus, such as polysaccharides, saponins, flavonoids and aminophenols, etc.We generalized headway of studies on the chemical constituents of

On the Influence of Astragalus Hoangtchy on Trained Rats' Skeletal Muscle Damage Caused by Free Radicals

Astragalus hoangtchy can suppress lipin peroxidation, enhance the anti-oxidized ability of organisms, improve the function of skeletal muscles, decrease the harm to the skeletal muscle, then extend the time of movement and postpone the appearance of fatigue.

[Effect of Astragalus polysaccharides and berberine on carbohydrate metabolism and cell differentiation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes].

AP could promote glucose up-take, cell differentiation and PPARgamma mRNA expression, BB also promote glucoseUp- take, but suppress the cell differentiation, and inhibit expressions of PPARGamma and C/EBPalpha mRNA in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.
