Effects of the calcium antagonist verapamil on the synthesis of fetal rat bone collagen and noncollagen protein were investigated in tissue culture. Protein synthesis was quantitated by measuring the incorporation of [3H]proline into collagenase-digestible (CDP) and noncollagen protein (NCP) using bacterial collagenase; [3H]proline was added for the last 2 h of culture.
